Brief Installation instructions for Sendmail:
If you have experience generating a sendmail.cf file from a sendmail.mc file, then
you are ready! Otherwise, contact Mail Deflector, and we will work with you to get the service going.
What you do:
A Mail Deflector technical staff member will give you an .mc file entry of the form:
FEATURE(dnsbl,any.foobar.spam-deflector.com,
"550 Mail from " $&{client_addr} " refused by blackhole site
http://www.maildeflector.com/whywasirefused.php")dnl
Note: The above "FEATURE(...)dnl" statement must be written on one line.
Place that entry in your
mc file, and generate a .cf file from it. Put that cf file in the sendmail configuration
file directory (usually /etc or /etc/mail), and restart
sendmail. That's it!
Other Programs:
If you are using QMail or Postfix, read their instructions regarding using an rbl service, and place
the Mail Deflector rbl information in the appropriate places.
What we do:
We enable your account within our database system, and give you the web page access information
to allow you to manage your private portion of Mail Deflector. This access information includes an account name and
password. Protect this information, as it provides very powerful access to your Mail Deflector account.
